DENVER, Sept. 10, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Bestkid announces the U.S. availability of its Child Safety Smart Lock (model MD11), a connected deadbolt that gives adults control over interior unlocking when a child can reach and operate the lock from inside the home.
With Child Safety Mode active, turning the interior thumbturn alone does not unlock the door. An authorized adult enters a confidential four-digit code using four physical buttons on the indoor panel, and a blue indicator shows when the mode is active.

The code should remain known only to responsible adults and should not be shared with a child.

Through the companion app, caregivers can manage supported lock functions and access permissions, review activity records and receive notifications. Near the lock, supported operations use Bluetooth without requiring home Wi-Fi. Remote unlocking requires an available internet connection and will not work if the home network or the lock’s connection is unavailable.
If the Child Safety Mode code is unavailable, an adult can follow the local reset procedure and then use the interior thumbturn to open the door, without the code, Wi-Fi or remote app access. Adults should follow the product’s reset instructions.
Everyday Use and Alerts
Child Safety Mode is integrated into the smart lock itself, so families do not need a separate adhesive knob cover or an additional device to add an indoor code step.
A magnetic door sensor supports automatic locking and door-left-open alerts, while configurable auto-lock timing lets users set when the lock engages. The lock also has a rechargeable battery, low-battery reminders and an exterior USB-C emergency-power port for restoring electronic entry power when needed.
A Camera Option Adds a Live View of the Entryway
For households that also want to see who is outside the front door, Bestkid offers a camera-equipped version of its Child Safety Smart Lock (model MD12). It shares MD11’s Child Safety Mode, indoor panel and core smart-access functions, including the local reset option, and adds an exterior camera. Through the companion app, users can view the entryway in real time.

Child Safety Mode is intended to be used as part of a household’s broader safety planning. While the mode is active, authorized adults can still enter from outside using a registered fingerprint, PIN, RFID card, the companion app or a mechanical backup key. If an adult inside does not have access to the Child Safety Mode code, they can follow the on-device reset procedure and then operate the interior thumbturn.
